Support/Transaction Types & Account Purpose Guide

Transaction Types & Account Purpose Guide

Before payment rails unlock, partners ask how you plan to use your account—not just who you are, but what types of transactions you expect and where funds originate.

Answering accurately speeds review. Vague or inconsistent answers about purpose, volume, or source of funds are a common reason submissions stay in pending or invalid status.

If a specific payment is held for review, see our Request for Information guide for how to respond to compliance emails and document requests.

Payment types & supporting documentation

Transaction reviews work like a lightweight underwriting packet: you show who paid you, why, and that the amount matches real paperwork. Each payment type below includes a prep checklist and document buttons—hover or tap for what reviewers expect.

Freelance & client invoice payments

Use this when a client pays you for project work, milestones, or deliverables—common for designers, developers, consultants, and agencies invoicing in USD.

How to prepare for review

  1. 1Match the incoming amount to a specific invoice number, milestone, or statement of work line item.
  2. 2Confirm the payer name on the wire or ACH matches the client on your contract or invoice.
  3. 3Write a one-sentence “relationship to sender” (e.g. “Acme Corp is my US client for Q2 website redesign”).
  4. 4State the reason for payment (e.g. “Final milestone payment per invoice #1042”).
  5. 5Attach PDFs only—no screenshots of payment confirmations or banking apps.

Employment & payroll

Use this when an employer—not a client—in sends salary, wages, bonuses, or regular payroll deposits into your account.

How to prepare for review

  1. 1Identify the employer legal name exactly as it appears on the payment.
  2. 2Match the deposit to a pay period shown on your pay stub or earnings statement.
  3. 3Explain your role and employment relationship in plain language.
  4. 4If the amount differs from usual payroll, note why (bonus, signing payment, final paycheck).
  5. 5Provide official employer-issued documents—not mobile app screenshots.

  1. 1Identify the platform name and your account holder name on the platform.
  2. 2Match the SwiftFi deposit to a payout line on an official platform report.
  3. 3Explain whether you are a driver, seller, freelancer, or creator on that platform.
  4. 4Download reports from the platform’s official export—not screenshots of the earnings screen.

Business-to-business (B2B) collections

Use this when your company receives client payments—invoices, PO settlements, or vendor remittances—from other businesses.

How to prepare for review

  1. 1Tie the incoming payment to a specific invoice, PO number, or contract milestone.
  2. 2Confirm the remitter is the contracting entity on your paperwork—not a similarly named subsidiary unless documented.
  3. 3For partial payments, show remaining balance on the invoice or milestone schedule.
  4. 4Include your company legal name as it appears on invoices and bank records.
  5. 5Business reviewers expect corporate letterhead or registered entity names on all documents.

Retainer & recurring client payments

Use this for fixed monthly or quarterly fees from ongoing clients—common for agencies, retainers, and subscription-style services.

How to prepare for review

  1. 1Show that the payment is part of a recurring schedule, not a one-off unrelated transfer.
  2. 2Reference the retainer period the payment covers (e.g. “April 2026 monthly retainer”).
  3. 3Keep at least two consecutive invoices or payment records if asked to prove recurrence.
  4. 4Explain the ongoing service in one sentence (marketing retainer, dev support, etc.).
  5. 5Amount should be consistent with the retainer agreement unless a documented change exists.

Contractor & subcontractor payments (inbound)

Use this when a US company pays you as an independent contractor—not an employee—for specific services or deliverables.

How to prepare for review

  1. 1Confirm you are classified as contractor on paperwork, not W-2 employee.
  2. 2Match payment to a contractor invoice you issued to the US company.
  3. 3Describe services performed and billing period in your written response.
  4. 4If near year-end, 1099 correspondence may be requested for tax reporting alignment.
  5. 5Do not mix contractor payments with personal gifts or family transfers in the same explanation.

Withdrawals to your bank account

Use this when moving SwiftFi balance to a personal or business bank—reviewers verify the destination is yours and the purpose is consistent with your profile.

How to prepare for review

  1. 1Confirm the bank account is in your name or your registered business name.
  2. 2State the purpose: living expenses, savings, local vendor payments, tax reserves, etc.
  3. 3Purpose should align with what you declared during onboarding (freelancer income, business ops, etc.).
  4. 4Provide a recent official bank statement PDF if the destination account is new to review.
  5. 5Large or first-time withdrawals may trigger additional source-of-funds checks on the inbound side too.

Withdrawals to a crypto wallet

Use this when sending USDC or other stablecoins to an external wallet—reviewers verify wallet ownership and transaction purpose.

How to prepare for review

  1. 1Identify the wallet address exactly as shown in the RFI email.
  2. 2Explain your relationship: personal self-custody wallet, exchange account, or company treasury.
  3. 3State the purpose: self-custody, trading, paying vendors in crypto, moving to an exchange for fiat off-ramp, etc.
  4. 4Never respond with only a wallet label—reviewers need a plain-language purpose.
  5. 5Screenshots of wallet apps or block explorers are not accepted as documentation.
